Coach Wells Gulledge met with his players early Tuesday morning to share some shocking news.

The long-time boys’ basketball coach who had won three state championships in his 11-year tenure at Kinston High School would not be back as head coach to help the team defend its 2012 state championship.

Gulledge told the team he would be leaving to take a job at a software company in Greenville. Assistant coach Perry Tyndall is the team’s interim head coach.

Check the site later today for a full story on Gulledge’s career at Kinston and what this means for the Vikings.
